Being safe on Facebook.

by Nadya Arnaoot on October 20, 2009

I hear more and more stories these days about folks being burnt by the (bad) privacy default settings on Facebook. As more and more older folks join Facebook, I’m concerned that more and more of the people I care about are going to have embarassing Facebook mishaps– or worse, lose jobs or relationships due [...]

david hockney’s iphone paintings

by Nadya Arnaoot on October 5, 2009

David Hockney has been using the Brushes app for recent paintings.

Just gorgeous.

A couple cool tools in beta.

by Nadya Arnaoot on December 10, 2007

I’ve been trying out a couple nifty tools; I Want Sandy has yet to win my heart, but I’m quite appreciating Jott.
Jott allows you to hook up a particular phone with a particular account.  When you phone Jott’s number from the phone you’ve authorized, you’re asked who you want to Jott.  You speak for up [...]

I’m strangely amused reading about the kerfuffle between Ursula leGuin and Cory Doctorow; it brings back the days that I spent a little bit too much time on listserves.
Quick summary of the current kerfuffle:

Ursula le Guin wrote a funny little snarky piece about folks who don’t think science fiction is real literature.
Cory Doctorow liked it, [...]
